Secure Copy is a powerful and comprehensive data migration solution that automates
the copying of data between Windows NT/2000/2003 servers without agents or scripts.
It is the perfect solution for networks that are consolidating file servers or moving
to a NAS/SAN solution. Secure Copy not only migrates files and folders, but also migrates
NTFS permissions, file shares and share permissions, local users and groups, and compression
settings.
Data migrations using Secure Copy have the following features:
-
Job Management. Definitions of what to copy and the associated options can
be saved as jobs to be reused or used at a later time.
-
Selection Granularity. While file selection is as easy as choosing a folder,
files can be excluded based on extension, folder name, file size, file date, and subfolder
depth.
-
Migration Testing. Jobs can be tested for any problems prior to the actual
migration, allowing administrators to see any problems that may arise during the actual
migration.
-
Unattended Migrations. Jobs can be scheduled to be run after hours. Multiple
simultaneous jobs are supported.
-
Uninterrupted Migrations. Unlike copy and xcopy when a file is locked open,
Secure Copy marks the file and continues the copy job to completion.
-
Incremental Support. Should files be skipped during an initial migration, the
same job can be repeatedly run where just the skipped files are migrated until a complete
data set has been migrated.
-
Migrating Shares and Accounts. The files alone are not enough to consider the
migration a success. Secure Copy migrates Shares and the associated permissions, as
well as Local Users and Groups used to facilitate access. This ensures that the security
imposed on the target server matches exactly that of the source server.
-
Administrative Override. Instead of seeing "Access Denied" in the middle of
the data migration due to the lack of NTFS permissions, Secure Copy allows Administrators
to override the security imposed on the file, migrate the data to the target server,
and restore the original restrictions to keep the data secure.
-
Command Line Interface. Secure Copy provides a fully functional command line
interface so you can script your migrations.
